VIEW and Old Forge Library partner for musical workshop

VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, and the Old Forge Library will present a free instrumental workshop at the Old Forge Library on Saturday, January 17 at 1:30 p.m.

The hands-on workshop will be led by members of The Canal Street String Band who will be performing live at VIEW at 7:30 p.m. the same day.

The 45 to 60 minute workshop will focus on the history of the instruments used by the band: banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and guitar.

The session will also include some family-friendly songs and a demonstration of how bones, spoons, washboards, and jaw harp figure into the band’s music.

Audience members will have the opportunity to join in the fun. Children who attend the workshop may be invited to join the Canal Street String Band for a few songs during the VIEW concert.
