Final tally stands at 3,150 canoes and kayaks, obliterates old record as largest raft ever assembled
The One Square Mile of Hope Committee, along with Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, is delighted to announce that the Guinness Book of World Records organization, headquartered in London, England, has verified the results of our September 13, 2014 event.
The Guinness World Record for the largest floating raft of kayaks and canoes stands at 3,150 boats and belongs to “Inlet, the Little Town that could.”
The previous record was held by a Sutton’s Bay group that floated 2,099 boats on Lake Michigan.
Word was received at Inlet in a short email on December 15 from Guinness World Records. It stated simply:
We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Largest raft of canoes/kayaks has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Record Title Holder!
You will shortly receive your Guinness World Records certificate in the post.
Congratulations!
