The following Inlet shops and restaurants were open for An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street weekend, November 28, 29 and 30: Adirondack Reader, Drake’s Inn, French Louie ADK Sports, Frisky Otter Tours (in the legion building), Inlet Public Library, Inlet Department Store, Kalil’s Grocery, Mary’s Gift Shop, The Ole Barn, Pedals & Petals, Red Dog Tavern, T’s EZ Mart, Screamen Eagle/Matt’s Draft House, and Zone 3.
French Louie played Christmas music all weekend over the PA system that was heard through town. Many Letters to Santa were left in the special mailbox at the Inlet Town Hall. Each letter that included a return address will be answered by Santa himself.
At Mitch’s direction, over 50 children hunted for candy canes that were hidden in Arrowhead Park, then came into the Town Hall for popcorn and cocoa while holiday favorites played on the big screen television.
Each hunter selected a grab bag out of the prize box, compliments of the CAA. Mojo the Noah’s Ark Mascot made a special appearance during the hunt.
About 20 dogs paraded down Route 28 in Inlet’s sixth annual Holiday Pet Parade, led by Patty Wittmeyer with Dora. Each dog received treats, compliments of the Adirondack Reader.
Pet Pictures were being taken by Adirondack Images at Screamen Eagle, with a special appearance by Santa.
Winners of “Inlet’s Best Holiday Pie” Contest were: Best Holiday Theme & Judge’s Favorite – Barb Murdock’s Chocolate Eggnog Pie, Best Tasting – Patty Wittmeyer’s Upside Down Apple Pie, Unique Recipe – Wendy Mierek’s Brownie Pecan Pie, Most Traditional – Maggie Morello’s World’s Best Apple Pie and Mountainman’s Favorite – Laura Cahill’s Cranberry Apple Pie.
Many gathered around the fire in front of French Louie’s ADK Sports while awaiting the lighting of the tree. Pastor Phil Huber of the Inlet Community Church blessed the town tree while Marion Skowron flicked the switch to light it.
After a few carols around the tree, many gathered in the Senior Room for cocoa and a visit from Santa. Each child received one of Inez Rudd’s famous Santa cookies.
Many then wandered over to Matt’s Draft House for free samplings of wines and Adirondack cheeses.
Candy Cane Hunt and Film Festival helpers were Alicia Burnett, Robin Murdock, Justin Murdock and Kendra Carnell.
The Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop helpers were Mary Marleau, Georgia Levi, Laura Levi, Thomas Levi, Shelby Townsend, Alex Sutherland and Shawn Hansen.
Pie judges were Mitch Lee, Dennis Hudson and Robin Murdock. Special thank you goes out to Patty Wittmeyer, Jay-Jay Huebner and Leo Fadel.
The winner of the Basket Raffle, drawn on Sunday, was Sandy Hunkins of Cooperstown and Eagle Bay.
