Two Inlet students win awards at County Conservation Field Day

Two Inlet Common School students were honored with awards from the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District for their entries in recent essay and poster contests conducted by the organization.

Chelsea Clark received overall second place for the fifth grade essay contest and Rachelle Manzi received overall third place for the sixth grade poster contest.  

Seventy-six Hamilton County fifth and sixth graders submitted entries based on the theme: Conserving Hamil-ton County’s Natural Resources.

On September 25, students from five area schools, including Inlet Common School, participated in the 35th Annual Lynn Galusha Memorial Conser-va-tion Field Day held on the Adirondack Eco Trail behind the District office in Lake Pleasant.

The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District has been working to manage and promote the wise use of natural resources in Hamilton County since 1965. Visit www.hcswcd.com for a video and photos of this year’s Conservation Field Day event.
