Olivia Phaneuf, a student at Town of Webb School, attended the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 5 Area All-State Festival at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22.
Phaneuf is the first Webb student to attend the festival in five years.
As the first chair tenor saxophone for the concert band, she and students representing Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties practiced approximately nine hours in two days prior to a public performance in Crane’s Hosmer Hall on Saturday.
Students were selected based on their NYSSMA Solo Festival scores, previous music festival experience, and teacher recommendation.
Phaneuf is a student of TOW School instrumental instructor Emily Herrmann.
