Ad’k Christmas on Main Street returning Nov. 28, 29 & 30

Inlet gearing for holiday visitors

The Town of Inlet invites all to enjoy the festivities planned for its Adirondack Christmas on Main Street celebration on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 28, 29, and 30.

Stop by the Inlet Information Office when you get to town for a list of shops that will be open. While you are there, you can drop off your letters to Santa.

At the end of day bring your receipts from purchases made at Inlet businesses and receive a raffle ticket for every $10 spent to qualify to win a Holiday Basket. 

The basket is filled with merchandise provided by Inlet businesses and the winner will be announced at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 at the Inlet Town Hall.

On Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a Book Sale at the Inlet Public Library.

Free gift wrapping service provided by the Inlet Common School PTP will be available at the Inlet Town Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday’s events include face painting by Shelby McGill at the Inlet Town Hall from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The 11th Annual Candy Cane Hunt will be held at Arrowhead Park at 12:30 p.m. Children ages 12 and under are invited to take part.

From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. there will be a Holiday Film Festival at the Inlet Town Hall. Children can be dropped off to enjoy the movies while the adults go shopping. Popcorn and cocoa will be served.

A Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop will take place at the Inlet Town Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with proceeds to benefit the Inlet Youth Commission. Mojo the Noah’s Ark mascot will pay a visit from 12:45 to 1 p.m.

Pet Picture opportunities by the fireplace will be available at Screamen Eagle from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Santa will make a special appearance from 3:15 to 4 p.m.

The Holiday Dog Parade up Main Street will begin at the Church of the Lakes at 4 p.m. Dress your pooch in its holiday best for the parade through town. All canines will receive a treat compliments of Adirondack Reader.

Judging for the Best Holiday Pie Contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Inlet Town Hall

A Warming Station will be set up at French Louie ADK Sports from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and a Wine & Cheese Tasting event will be held at Matt’s Draft House and Screamen Eagle Pizza from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tree Lighting and caroling will begin outside the Town Hall at  5 p.m. Following, all are invited to the Senior Room to enjoy cookies and cocoa and visit with Santa.

On Sunday, shopping opportunities continue. It’s also the last day to qualify to win the Holiday Basket raffle.

Old Forge readies town festivities

An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street in Old Forge will return on Friday through Sunday, November 28, 29 and 30 providing a weekend of holiday fun for the whole family.

Beginning Friday, folks can stop by the Goodsell Museum at 2993 State Route 28 and view the latest exhibit, “100,000 Acres of Paradise: The early history of the Adirodack League Club.” Admission is free and all are invited to a Holiday Open House on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Local author Anne Phinney will be at Hollister’s Trading Post at xxxxxxx beginning at 11 a.m. to sign copies of her book, “Finding My Way to Moose River Farm.” She will be accompanied by some of the farm animals featured on the pages of the book.

There will also be face painting from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

From noon to 2 p.m. on Friday the Polar Bear Ski Club will be holding its annual BBQ at Ozzie’s Coffee Bar at 3019 State Route 28. All proceeds of the event will support the local ski club.

Horse drawn wagon rides will be provided from Souvenir Village at the center of town from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Shelter, at 3019 State Route 28, will be providing refreshments and have a special guest appearance by the Grinch from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday.

Be sure to bring your Christmas list and canera to the Forge Motel where you will have an opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Also from 1 to 4 p.m. both days, Santa’s reindeer will be located outside Walt’s Diner.

The Adirondack Scenic Railroad’s Santa Express Train will depart Thendara Station at 2 and 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for round-trip rides to Otter Lake.

The Utica Zoo Mobile will be located at Wilderness Interiors from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday. Local photographer Ana Burke will be available for Holiday Photo-Ops at Oil Well from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

At the Back Door deck from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, gift wrapping will be provided by the Town of Webb Key Club and Mike Notley will host Christmas Karaoke.

The Christmas Light Parade will commence down Main Street at 5:30 p.m. from the Old Forge Post Office. All are welcome to get in the holiday spirit and join in the parade. Participants should line up at the Town of Webb School bus circle  by 5:15 p.m.

The Tracy Family will perform holiday favorites beginning at 5 p.m. from the Old Forge Hardware storefront and continue until the tree lighting ceremony at approximately 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Enjoy breakfast with Mrs. Claus at the Front Door Diner from 9 to11 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Walt’s Diner. The Masons will offer a child ID program at the Forge Motel from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Festivities on Sunday include the Reindeer Run that will begin at 1:30 p.m. from the Goodsell Museum. This fun run is open to all kids, parents and leashed dogs.

Participants should stop by early to pick up a pair of reindeer antlers and get their noses painted prior to the run that ends at Point Park.

At 2 p.m., the Strand will be offering half-price admission and a free small popcorn to all children wearing their antlers to the holiday matinee,” The Penguins of Madagascar.”

All weekend, Main Street will be filled with Christmas carolers, Adirondack woodland characters, and shop and restaurant specials.
