APA public meeting at Old Forge gym rescheduled for Monday, November 24

The Adirondack Park Agency’s public listening session scheduled for Tuesday, November 18 in Old Forge was cancelled due to questionable weather and has been rescheduled for Monday, November 24 at the Town of Webb School gymnasium from 4 to 6 p.m.

The APA is soliciting public comment on possible amendments to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan.

The Master Plan, written in 1972, defines permissable activities on State-owned Forest Preserve land in the Adirondack Park. Since 1987 there have been no major amendments to the Plan, despite changing recreational activities.

Inlet Councilman Bill Faro encourages area residents to take advantage of this opportunity to meet one-on-one with APA “rule makers” to make them aware of their needs and wants.

“What are your thoughts on snowmobile trails, float planes, mountain bike trails, opening lands and land improvement? This is a chance to get their ears,” Faro said.

In addition to the scheduled listening sessions, the APA will accept written comments on Master Plan amendments until December 5, 2014.

Those comments can be sent to: Deputy Director, Planning Kathy Reagan; P.O Box 99, Ray Brook, NY 12977.
