Services planned for James H. Finkle, Sr., 80

James H. Finkle, Sr., 80, of New Hartford and Old Forge, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the Siegenthalar Center.Finkle

He was born on September 24, 1934, in Utica, a son of the late Harvey and Mildred Wheeler Finkle. He graduated from New Hartford High School and attended Oswego College.

Jim married Dona Haggas on March 17, 1956. He worked in the construction trade and later owned and operated Oneida Electrical Contractors.

Jim was a member of the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge and was also a member of the Carducci Masonic Lodge F&AM. He served on the Boards for NECA and JATC.

Jim was always a hard worker and a keen businessman. Once he retired, he could be found with his family or working on a project.

Always putting his family first, one of Jim’s greatest pleasures in life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jim was an avid golfer, who enjoyed scoring three holes in one. In his free time he loved snowmobiling, boating, watching NASCAR and driving his Corvette. He was also loved and respected by his many friends and business associates.

He is survived by his wife, Dona Finkle; children, Gail Doyle and her husband, Gregg of Clinton; Debbie Bathke and her husband, Don of New Hartford; Jim Finkle, Jr. and his wife, Theresa of Poland; Lynne Myers of Clinton and Sharon Kleps and her husband, David of Old Forge; grandchildren, Jill and Cody Doyle, Sarah Dobson and her husband,

Justin, Jennifer King and her husband, Mike, Meghan Bathke, Jessica Myers, Stephanie Burke and her husband, Dan, Mallory Kleps and Griffin Kleps; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Finkle and sister, Carol Lamphere.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Tisch, who was not only a great physician, but also a dear friend to Jim, for all the special care and comfort given to him. They would also like to thank Dr. Ferreiro for his compassion and care.

The funeral will be on Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel,

Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.

Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
