VIEW unveils variety of workshops for the coming weeks in Old Forge

VIEW has announced that it will be offering a number of workshops in the coming weeks.

• Barbara Green, of Adirondack Green House Basketry, will offer guidance and assistance to fellow basket weavers at an Open Weave Studio session on Monday, November 3 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The session is open to anyone who has an unfinished basket project and needs assistance, or is interested in working on a basket with other weavers.

It is free of charge, however registration is required. Participants will need to provide their own materials and tools.

• Learn to create Woven Carolina Snowflakes at a workshop on Saturday, November 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Participants will weave ash wood strips into three-dimensional woven rustic snowflakes. All materials will be supplied—enough to make one small and one large snowflake.

The fee is $20 for members of VIEW, or $25 for non-members. Advance registration required.

• Create a fused glass platter at a workshop on Monday, November 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The workshop is suitable for children and adults, however children under the age of 12 are restricted to pre-cut glass. No previous experience is required.

Using various shapes, colors, and types of glass, participants will create a 12-inch square glass platter.

Pieces are melted flat in the kiln, and then returned to the kiln in a mold to shape into a platter. Pieces will be available for pickup the following week.

The fee is $24 for members of VIEW, or $28 for non-members. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.

• Learn how to make a rustic pinecone wreath at workshop on Saturday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. Using locally gathered pinecones and chicken wire, Participants will create a unique wreath using chicken wire and locally gathered pinecones.

The fee  is $40 for VIEW members and $50 for non-members. Space is limited to six participants and advanced registration is required.

• Create an oval basket, perfect for a loaf of bread, with warming stone included, at a workshop held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday, November 15. Instructor is Barbara Green of Adirondack Green House Basketry.

The workshop fee  is $40 for VIEW members or $50 for non-members, plus a $24 materials fee payable to the instructor. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
