The 3rd annual Adirondack Kids Day, inspired by the best selling book series, The Adirondack Kids by Gary and Justin VanRiper, will be held at Inlet’s Arrowhead Park and the Inlet Town Hall on Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m to 3:30 p.m.
The day will be filled with a variety of free activities as described on the pages of the popular books, and will take place rain or shine.
Indoor activities include a program by Mark Manske, who will bring along his Adirondack Raptors and present a demonstration on these amazing birds of prey.
Master photographer Eric Dresser will also be on hand to offer a slide show on Wildlife of the Adirondacks.
Representatives from NYS Department of Conservation will demonstrate basic fishing techniques and will supervise a Fishing Derby for children ages 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
There will be a petting zoo, bouncy house, face painting, and a magician, and special appearances by Smoky Bear and Walter Safari, the Enchanted Forest Water Safari mascot.
Outdoor recreational opportunities include knot tying, horseback riding, hiking and paddling. All should dress accordingly for outdoor activities.
A number of authors of children’s books will present a Book Fair at Adirondack Reader.
Major sponsor of the event is the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with co-sponsorship by Melissa & Doug Toys, IABA, Town of Inlet, French Louie’s ADK Sports, Adirondack Reader, Dave Scranton Photography, and The Adirondack Kids.
