The Quilters’ Consortium of New York state, a non-profit organization, is a resource-sharing organization made up of quilt guilds, quilt shops, individuals, quilt-related businesses, quilting teachers and non-profit organizations.
It’s primary goal is to be a source of information for its member guilds, to provide a venue for sharing program ideas and expenses for guild programs, to be a source of vendor information for members’ quilt shows and a means to advertise the members’ quilting events.
It provides a forum to discuss organizational problems and find solutions, and meets four timeas a year at various locations around the state to conduct business, share guild program ideas and provide networking opportunites for its members.
The organization met at VIEW in Old Forge on Wednes-day, September 17 for the first time, bringing 120 guild delegates, members and individuals together to discuss and share information.
Three vendors—Crazy Moose Quilt Shop of Inlet, Hummingbird Highway of Syracuse, and Just Threads of Watertown—were on site to display and sell their quilt-related merchandise.
Breakfast beverages and treats were set up and ready for the early arrivals, and business was conducted. A great deal of networking took place among the participants during lunch.
Spearheading the effort was VIEW’s Education and Artistic Programs Manager Barbara Getty.
