The Town of Webb approved two appointments at its Audit of Claims meeting on Tuesday, September 2.
In response to a recommendation by the Town of Webb’s Sole Appointed Assessor, Jean Murdock, the board approved the hiring of Jane Franco as the office’s Part-time Assessing Clerk.
Franco will fill the post previously held by Loretta Gaffney, which involves data entry as it pertains to assessing, according to Webb Supervisor Ted Riehle.
The board also approv d the appointment of Chris Klaiber as Motor Equipment Operator for the Town of Webb Highway Department, on the recommendation of Highway Superin-tendent Casey Crofut.
Other business included an agreement that would allow use of a town-owned lift by the Old Forge Fire Depart-ment, for use in doing maintenance to the department’s firehall building.
Chuck Betz, a fire department member, is familiar with the lift and its operation and will be overseeing its use, according to Supervisor Riehle.
Also, at the request of Rob Kidd of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), the board resolved to allow overnight boat parking on Monday, September 15, at the town-owned board walk on the Pied Piper side of the Old Forge Pond.
This would relax the overnight parking restriction for one night at the docking location to accommodate “pre-event” activity related to the National ACBS Boat Show that will be taking place at Skaneateles later in the week.
The ACBS reports that 80 members are expected to arrive in Old Forge for the event on Sunday, September 14.
“We have people coming from California, Michigan and other states, who are excited to experience the Central Adirondacks for the first time,” said the ACBS’s Kidd.
Supervisor Riehle said the Town of Webb is welcoming the participants, who will be cruising the Fulton Chain on Monday, and that he expects it to be a neat event.
