Local communities hosting Labor Day weekend festivities

Communities in the region have an array of events planned for the Labor Day holiday weekend, that runs this year from Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.

Among those communities are Otter Lake, Old Forge, Inlet and Long Lake.

Details of their events are as follows:

— Otter Lake —

The Otter Lake Fire Department and Auxiliary will host its 30th Annual Steak Bake and Truck Raffle on Sunday, August 31st.

The steak dinner begins at 4 p.m. and will be served until gone.

There will be a giant fire truck-themed bounce house on site for the kids, and a Chinese/Silent Auction. Live music by Gun Powder & Lead will begin at 7 p.m.

The truck raffle will take place at approximately 10 p.m.

All are invited to join in the celebration.

— Old Forge —

A variety of events will be held at the Old Forge lakefront on Sunday, August 31 in celebration of Labor Day.

The Elvis Show, featuring Joe Angerosa will perform from 2 to 4 p.m.

Angerosa, a native of Utica, has been performing an Elvis tribute for over 25 years and has been dubbed “the best Elvis this side of the Mississippi.”

All are welcome to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the free concert sponsored by the Town of Webb.

At 7 p.m. live music by the Paul Case Band will begin. Following the performance will be the drawing for a 50th Anniversary Edition 2015 Ford Mustang.

In addition to the Mustang, 10 additional prizes will be given away, including one $10,000 cash prize, one $3,000 cash prize, five $1,000 cash prizes and three $500 cash prizes.

Only 999 tickets will be sold.

Tickets for the Ford Mustang drawing are going fast, but are still available at the Visitor Information Center at 3140 State Route 28 in Old Forge.

Cash, credit cards or personal checks will be accepted for payment. Or they can be purchased online at www.OldForgeNY.com.

A fireworks display will follow the announcement of the raffle winners.

The drawing is sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association.

Inlet

The Gwen Tracy Band will perform at Inlet’s Arrowhead Park on Saturday, August 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.

This will be the final concert of the summer for Inlet’s Sunset by the Lake concert series. All are invited to bring a blanket and folding chair and enjoy the free concert and the sunset.

Tracy, a fifth generation Adirondacker, sings a blend of blues and folk music and has been performing in the region since 2000.

She performs as a solo act and also with a variety of other musicians. In 2004, along with her friend John Kribs, she formed the blues-rock band Delia. She and her father, Jim, often play as an acoustic duo.

Her latest endeavor is a four-piece acoustic band that includes her father, her mother, Bonnie, and her husband, Chris Duess.

Inlet’s concert series is sponsored by the Town of Inlet, The Wine Shop, The Adirondack Reader and French Louie ADK Sports, and the Central Adirondack Association

Long Lake

The 6th Annual Long Lake Labor Day Celebration at Mt. Sabattis Pavilion will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th. The event will feature a chicken barbecue, live music and fireworks.

The fun begins between 4 and 5 p.m. with the chicken barbecue hosted by the Long Lake Fire Department. To-go meals will be available. Proceeds from the barbecue will benefit the volunteer fire department.

Live music will be provided by veteran southern country rockers, The Fulton Chain Gang, beginning at 5 p.m.

The fireworks will begin at dusk.

The event is sponsored by the Town of Long Lake and the Long Lake Fire Department.
