Eating Local in the Adirondacks subject of Old Forge Library program, Sept. 2nd

Author and historian Hallie Bond will offer a presentation, Eating Local in the Adirondacks: A History, at the Old Forge Library on Tuesday September 2 at 7 p.m.

In her lastest book, Adirondack Cookbook, which she co-authored with veteran chef Stephen Topper, Bond combines her historical research on regional food ways with Topper’s reinvention of traditional cuisine for a fresh take on Adirondack dining.

Bond was on the staff at the Adirondack Museum for nearly 30 years.

She is the author of numerous historical articles for both scholarly and popular journals on topics ranging from historic watercraft, the history of dogs in the Adirondacks, and material culture, to quilts.

She lives in Long Lake with her husband, author and boat-builder Mason Smith.

The program is free and open to the public.

It is funded by Mid-York Library System in conjunction with their community read, A Dirty Life, by Kristin Kimball.
