Letter from Gerda Wikander as library enters 2nd century

For Izzie Worthin and all my treasured friends:

First, let me thank “you & yours” for the beautiful “Centennial Celebration” of the Old Forge Library on my 100th birthday, July 13, 2014.

I feel proud, honored and humble to have been asked to be an artistic contributor.

The reception turnout (in the rain) confirmed personal beliefs that Old Forge is the most caring and cohesive of communities.

We are indeed fortunate to have “Library and Friends” as our first and ongoing cultural entity.

For me, personally, participating in our “joint centennial celebration” was the high point of “97 magical years”—among my Adirondack Family” in our beautiful mountains and lakes.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this possible.

Gerda Wikander
