Town of Webb police activity, July 9–16

The Town of Webb Police Department has received numerous bear complaints over the last couple weeks. The Town of Webb Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors that one major deterrent is to make sure all food and trash is properly secured.

For tips on how to deter bear activity or for any non-emergency bear complaint you may call the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Division of Law Enforcement toll free at 1-877-457-5880.

On July 9, at approximately 2:10 a.m. Ofc. A.J. Silverman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Railroad Ave. in Old Forge for several traffic infractions. Investigation revealed that the operator, a 25-year-old Old Forge woman, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

The woman was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor) and was brought to the Town of Webb Police Department for processing where she refused to submit to a chemical test.

During the investigation Ofc. Silverman was approached by a 30-year-old Old Forge man who did not leave the area after being informed by Ofc. Silverman to do so.

The man was subsequently arrested for Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree (class A misdemeanor).

Both were arraigned before Hon. John Graham at the Town of Webb Court and both were released on their own recognizance to reappear at a later date.

On July 10, Ofc. Trevor Tormey completed an investigation of a larceny that occurred at Kinney Drugs. The investigation concluded with the arrest of a 56-year-old Old Forge woman for petit larceny (class A misdemeanor).

The woman was released with an appearance ticket to appear before the Town of Webb Court at a later date.

On July 11, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Ofc. A.J. Silverman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on NYS Route 28 in Thendara for a traffic infraction. Investigation revealed that a 41-year-old Cicero man was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

The man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree (misdemeanor) and a traffic infraction and issued tickets to appear before the Town of Webb Court at a later date.

On July 12, at approximately 10 a.m., Ofc. A.J. Silverman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in regards to a license plate reader hit on NYS Route 28 in Old Forge.

Investigation revealed that a 29-year-old Lowville woman was operating a vehicle with suspended registration, operating with a suspended license and had an active warrant from Schoharie County Family Court for child neglect.

She was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration (misdemeanor), aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree (misdemeanor), family court act warrant (violation) and numerous traffic infractions.

She was brought before Hon. John Graham of the Town of Webb Court for arraignment and was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $800 bail or $1,600 bond.

On July 12, at approximately 5 p.m. Ofc. A.J. Silverman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in regards to a license plate reader hit on NYS Route 28 in Old Forge. Investigation revealed that a 38-year-old Utica man was operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration.

He was issued a ticket for operating with a suspended registration (misdemeanor) to appear before the Town of Webb Court at a later date.

On July 13, at approximately 9 a.m. Ofc. A.J. Silverman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in regards to a license plate reader hit on NYS Route 28 in Old Forge.

Investigation revealed that a 27-year-old Camillus man was operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration.

He was issued a traffic ticket for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration (misdemeanor) to appear before the Town of Webb Court at a later date.
