Thomas C. Buckel, Jr. Esq., managing attorney for Legal Services of Central New York, has notified Town of Webb Supervisor Ted Riehle that he and his legal team are currently offering free legal services to residents of Herkimer County.
The free clinics will be held at the Herkimer County Courthouse at 301 N. Washington St. in Herkimer on the third Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays, and more frequently if demand dictates.
The team will assist with matters related to housing, education, health insurance, consumer debt, and public benefits.
They can also direct residents to legal counsel for other issues including domestic violence and foreclosure defense, as well as provide assistance in preparing health care proxies, living wills, and benefit applications.
“We are able to serve individuals and families up to 200% of poverty guidelines. This means a family of four with a gross income of $47,000 may qualify for our free legal service,” Buckel said.
More information on services provided through the agency is available at (315) 793-7105.
