Garry J. Hazen, 73, passes away

On Wednesday, June 18 Garry James Hazen lost his two-and-a-half year battle with Leukemia when the disease, which was previously in remission, aggressively returned.

At the age of 73, Garry is survived by his wife Ida of 52 years, son Garry and Linda Hazen and their three children, Lauren, Meaghan, and Brian, son Russell, daughter Sheri and Lorna, sister Barbara and Richard Eldridge, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who shared his laughter and enjoyment of life.

Garry was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and later in life loved traveling with his wife throughout the U.S. visiting friends and family along the way, and fishing from Maine to Alaska and many locations in between.

In his life there were many things Garry was proud of: his service to the U.S. Army, his dedication to the town of Inlet NY, his involvement with the construction of the WW Durant in Raquette Lake, NY, the friends he made everywhere he went, and his family. Family was extremely important to him. In his final hours, he was surrounded by them and passed peacefully.

Memorials may be made in Garry’s honor to caringbridge.com or Inlet Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 300, Inlet, NY 13360.
