Service planned for John Paul Dunay, 56

John Paul Dunay passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica at the age of 56.

John was born October 13, 1957, in Rome, NY, to the late Joseph and Ruth Long Dunay. After graduating from the Town of Webb High School, he eventually chose to settle in the Adirondacks, which he loved.

John worked side-by-side with his father, and later became the dedicated caregiver to his parents. Additionally, he loved his community and would recount conversations he had in town with various neighbors he had seen that day.

John grew up attending the Inlet Communty Church. Although John had many interests, some of his favorite were camping, canoeing, cooking on the grill and spending time on Fourth Lake.

He was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He will be most missed for the remarkable way he could tell stories about his life that made people laugh.

He is survived by his sister Mary Catherine Dunay and husband Dan Sooker of Boca Raton, FL; his brother James Charles Dunay and wife Barbara Dunay of Raleigh, NC; his sister Julie Dunay Dunckel and husband Steve Dunckel of Hubbardsville, NY; niece and nephews, Sarah Elizabeth Dunay-Sooker, Jonathan Edward Dunay, Steven Joseph Dunckel, and Mark Philip Dunckel; his aunt, Julia Lenish of Binghamton; and many friends, with special mention of Lewis and Patricia Cotignola.

John’s family would like to express their thanks to everyone at the Health Center in Old Forge and the ambulance personnel, who cared for him during his recent illness.

They would also like to acknowledge the Inlet Ambulance personnel for their care in the past.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Inlet. Memorial donations may be made to the Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services, P.O. Box 300, Inlet, NY 13360.

Arrangements are in care of Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Old Forge. Online expressions of sympathy may be left at www.dfwefh.com.
