Michael Lamphear elected Raquette Lake Fire Chief

Michael Lamphear was unanimously elected Fire Chief of the Raquette Lake Fire Depart-ment at elections held at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall on Friday, April 4th.

Lamphear, who previously served as 2nd Assistant Chief, was nominated by out-going Chief Mark Bird.

Chief Lamphear is a trained Class A interior firefighter who has been a volunteer for 14 years in various departments. He has also been an EMT for 12 years, serving the past eight as a Critical Care Tech.  

Kurt Murdock will continue as 1st Assistant Chief and Mark Bird will serve as 2nd Assistant Chief.

A motion to thank Bird for his years of leadership and service to the fire department and the Raquette Lake community passed by acclamation.

Election of officers also took place at the meeting with President Mitch Edelstein, Vice President Gary Miller, Treasurer Jim Dillon and Secretary Liz Beckingham all re-elected to their positions.
