Scott Locorini, an Old Forge-based outdoor guide, was elected president of the New York State Outdoor Guides Association at its recent annual Rendezvous.
The operator of Adirondack Exposure and Whitewater Challengers, Locorini has been a full-time guide since 1992.
Whitewater Challengers offers rafting trips on the Moose and Salmon Rivers.
Adirondack Exposures offers trips involving kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing and hunting.
During the winter, Scott offers sea kayak and kayak fishing trips in Florida and Costa Rica.
In 2005, he was inducted into the International Kayak and Canoe Hall of Fame. His love for the outdoors has kept him in the outdoors for many years but he says that this doesn’t hold a candle to the love he has for his new daughter.
As she grows, he looks forward to introducing her to the outdoors and teaching her all he can.
NYSOGA traces its roots back to the formation of the Adirondack Guides Association in 1891.
Its members, who come from all parts of the Empire State, take customers on expeditions varying from hiking and camping to hunting and fishing to white water and rock and ice climbing.
All of its active members, in addition to being licensed New York State guides, subscribe to a strict code of ethics and promise to maintain high standards of professional conduct and wilderness use.
