Calling all cars, calling all cars. Is there anybody in the Town of Inlet interested in having a Fish & Game Club again? I saw quite a few local kids participating in Inlet’s Fall Fishing Derby at Adirondack Kids Day on the first Saturday in October.
And, hold onto your hats, there were local adults volunteering too!
It seems a shame to let the opportunity slip away for kids to enjoy the outdoors—while residing not much more than a good spit away from water or a hiking or ski trail—just because their parents don’t partake.
If there were enough giddy-up people from Inlet, I am more than willing to help the Club out of the mothballs and get it up and running again.
I am secretary of Hamilton County Federation of Sportsmen Groups Inc., a group of Sporting Clubs within Hamilton County that would love to have Inlet as a member.
The Federation supports individual sporting clubs with reimbursements available for children’s events.
These include hunting and snowmobile safety courses and other educational and conservation programs, fishing derbies, outings and even the opportunity to attend Camp Colby during the summer months.
The Town Supervisors of Hamilton County assist our organization financially, helping with kids’ causes.
We raise money through dues, local 50/50’s and are presently printing tickets for a raffle for a generator. We also humbly beg anybody or any group to sponsor county kids for any event that cannot be afforded under their home roof.
So, let go of the remote. Call the Inlet Information Office at (315) 357-5501 and tell Adele or Mitch you are interested in attending a local meeting to raise the Inlet Fish & Game Club from the ashes. If your phone is too far away, email info@inletny.com.
If there is enough interest, we will have a meeting before the end of January or as early in February as possible to get the ball rolling.
Camp Colby applications go in during April and openings are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
