Local churches announces special Christmas services

Area churches are planning special services for parishioners and visitors for Christmas eve, Christmas day and New Year’s eve and day.

Big Moose Chapel’s annual Christmas Candlelight service will be held Sunday, December 22 at 4 p.m. Reverend Lawrence Bartel of Niccolls Church will officiate at the service.

Nicholas Steltzer will be the organist and lead the congregation in song.

St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church of Old Forge will hold its Christmas eve vigil service at 5 p.m.

The Christmas day service will be held at 10 a.m. A New Year’s eve service will be held on Tuesday, December 31 at 5 p.m.

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Inlet will hold a Christmas eve vigil at 7:30 p.m. and a New Year’s service on Wednesday, January 1 at 9 a.m.

Niccolls Memorial Church will hold a special Family Candlelight Service on Christmas eve at Moose River Farm at 5:30 p.m.

Anne and Rod Phinney, owners of Moose River Farm, invite all to experience the story of Jesus’ birth in their barn among their horses, donkeys, goats, and dogs.

Prior to the service participants can greet the animals, sip a warm drink, and enjoy live Christmas music. There will be carols and readings with folks of all ages taking parts.

Due to limited parking, anyone interested in attending is asked to meet at Niccolls Church parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for bus shuttle service to the site. For planning purposes, please call the church office at 369-3475 to let them know you will be attending.

A Traditional Candlelight Communion Christmas Eve Service will take place in the sanctuary of Niccolls Church at 10 p.m.

The Church of the Lakes in Inlet will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Tuesday, December 24 at 4 p.m.

Raquette Lake Chapel will hold its Christmas eve service at 6 p.m.
