Services planned for J. Claude Lecours

J. Claude Lecours of Old Forge passed away on December 14, 2013 at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville after a long illness.Lecours J Claude pic

He was born in Nantes, Quebec, son of Felicien and Yvette Baillargeon Lecours. Mr. Lecours was educated in Canada and came to the Adirondacks and worked as a logger.

He then became an excavating contractor in the Old Forge area, later becoming a logging broker, retiring in 2006.

He was of the Catholic faith, a member, past-president, and treasurer of the NYS Timber Association; a member and past director of the North Eastern Loggers Association; a past director of the Woodsmen’s Field Days in Boonville; and parade grand marshal in 1988.

He had been a past trustee of the Old Forge Library, and a member of the Central Adirondack Association.

In 1964, he married Louisette Isabelle. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Liette Lecours of Peekskill, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and April Lecours of Billerica, MA; grandchildren, Lucas and Casey Pollice, and Jace and Ayla Lecours; and three brothers, Robert, Yves, and Sylvian Lecours of Canada. Claude was predeceased by sister, Lise, and a brother, Andre.

Calling hours will be at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home of Old Forge on Saturday, December 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be in the spring at a time to be announced.
