The Kinderwood Pre-school Program’s class of three year olds celebrated the holidays with a Christmas party on Wednesday, December 17 in the Kinderwood room at View.
These students, along with the four-year-old class, will be taking a two-week break for Christmas, but will return for instruction in January.
As the fall session comes to a close, the Kinderwood Board of Directors asks that the community keep the preschool program in mind as they consider their end of the year charitable donations.
Due to the expansion of the program—two days of instruction for three year olds, and three days of instruction and one day of outreach programming for four year olds—full tuition costs are now $935 for the younger class and $1,870 for the older students.
The North Woods Women’s Club helps to support Kinderwood through its fundraising efforts which provides scholarships for the preschoolers. One such initiative is the group’s sponsorship of the food concession at the annual Snodeo. This year’s event, held over the weekend of December 13, 14 and 15, helped to raise over $3,000 for Kinderwood.
Head Teacher Diane Heroux said in the last few years they have seen a bigger need for scholarships, and on top of that, general operational costs are always on the rise.
“We want to continue to make sure that the preschool experience is available to all. We are very dependent on grants and donations to cover our costs,” she said.
