Hamilton County Sportsmen sponsor 4th Annual Coyote Contest

The Hamilton County Federation of Sportsmen Inc. is sponsoring the 4th Annual Coyote Contest from now through March 2014. Each month, the registered hunter who harvests the largest coyote in Hamilton County will receive $100.

At the end of March, whoever brings in the largest coyote in weight will receive $150.

Gift certificates from T’s EZ Mart in Inlet, O’Connor Automotive in Speculator, King’s Collision and Automo-tive Repair in Indian Lake, and Hoss’s Country Corner in Long Lake will be awarded to contestants.

For information sheets and registration forms, stop by the participating businesses listed above. Weigh-ins will also be conducted at these locations.

Registration fees for the contest are $20 for residents/property owners of Hamilton County and $25 for non-residents.

Completed registration forms can be mailed by the contestant to: Hamilton County Federation of Sportsmen Inc., P.O. Box 627, Long Lake, NY 12847.

Registrations received after October 31 will have a one month delay before being eligible for weigh-in.

Contestants must possess a valid NYS hunting license for the 2013 – 2014 year.

The registered contestant must sign a sworn statement at weigh-in attesting to the fact that the coyote was taken/harvested in Hamilton County by the participant of the contest.

Last year’s contest drew 36 contestants who brought in 1,357.5 pounds of coyote. The largest coyote, 58 pounds, was presented in Long Lake by Jim Waite.
