Card of thanks

On Saturday, September 21, an unpredictable gust of wind put us and our Hobie Cat totally upside down in Fourth Lake before we could blink!

With the good-natured and compassionate help of Alicia Giovannone with her power boat, some of her neighbors at Ramona Point, and four unsuspecting fishermen whom I imagine would have preferred pulling some FISH out of the lake, rather than us, we were rescued and able to right our vessel.

With water in our bones and a bit of egg on our faces for tipping in the first place, we gladly accepted Alicia’s tow back to our camp as well.

It is truly a tribute to these unselfish people who gave up a good part of a beautiful afternoon to help others in need, whom they didn’t even know, without a thought to their own warmth and schedules.

Without their help, we would not only have been in deep water…but deep trouble! We don’t know if any of them will see this note, especially the four fishermen from Lockport, NY, staying at Neodak, but to those of us on Fourth Lake reading this, take comfort in knowing what kind “mountain people” we have in our community.

We do have a very special piece of life here, for which we are very grateful.
