Funeral services set for Marie F. Flo, 95

Marie F. Flo formerly of Old Forge and Utica, passed away September 10, 2013 at Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville.

She was born January 11, 1918 in Utica, the daughter of Gerald and Anna Martoccio Flo.  She attended local schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy. Marie received degrees from Keuka College and State University of New York, Geneseo.  She taught in Newport, NY for two years and in The Central School of Morris, NY for twenty-nine years, retiring as school librarian in 1973.

While in Utica she was a member of Historic Old St. John’s Church, and continued to be an Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary Utica Curia. In Old Forge, Marie was a daily communicant of St. Bartholomew’s Church, where she taught CCD, officiated as Lector and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

In Old Forge, Marie was an active volunteer and charter member of the Town of Webb Histor-ical Association, The Art’s Guild, Friends of the Library and AARP.

Special thanks to the staff at Sunset Nursing Home for the care given to Marie over the past several years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 14 at 11 a.m., at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Whitesboro. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
