Cabin in the Woods concert to feature pianist Timothy Chan on September 8

View will present the 2013 Crane School of Music Concerto Competition winner at the Cabin in the Woods concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 8.

Timothy Chan will perform on a 1908 Steinway Concert B grand piano with selections that will include Bach, Frank, Debussy, and Liszt. Due to limited seating in this intimate space, reservations are required by calling View at (315) 369-6411 no later than Wednesday, September 4th.

Born in New York City, Chan started playing the piano at the age of seven. He studied music privately and attended Queens Borough Community College (QCC) and the City College of New York.

While at QCC, he received the Matthew Barbiere Memorial Music Scholarship in 2009. He also pursued additional studies at the Kaufman Center in New York City with Christine Yoon, where he performed in multiple studio recitals, in a student recital at Steinway Hall, and he participated in a master class with Philip Kawin.

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in piano performance with Dr. Paul Wyse at the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam, Chan has played in a variety of performances such as Master Class with Dr. Scott Price, Crane Student Honors Recital, solo recital, and has placed third in Crane’s Concerto competition.

He hopes to pursue graduate studies in piano performance after his studies at Crane.

This performance will take place at the Cabin in the Woods on Route 28, just north of the Runway convenience store, not at View’s Gould Hall.

Light refreshments will be served following the performance. Tickets are $100/$50 for members and can be purchased by calling View at (315) 369-6411.
