July 6 2013 sailing picThe Central Adirondack Sailing Association kicked off the 2013 season with sailboat races on Fourth Lake on Saturday, July 6th. The sailors enjoyed the first dry weather day of the week with medium winds and sunny skies.

The Wilsey and Hartsig boat had the best results of the day with a first and second place finish in the two races. The Steigerwald and Jeffries boat also did very well with a first and third place finish.

The Cowles and Lorraine boat had two photo finishes, grabbing a second and fourth place, both by a margin of inches. The Wayne boat came in third and David Menz had a fifth place finish.

Tom McCabe, with a young but enthusiastic crew of Chris Cowles and Rory McCabe,  captured a fourth and fifth places even while having to execute a penalty delay in each race.

Nate Wilsey with a new crew of Natalia Figueiredo and Frank Belknap and Ken Pitzer’s crew tied for the day, both with sixth and seventh place finishes.

Chris and Andy Eichar finished with two eighth place finishes. Sarah Cowles also sailed the course in a Sunfish.

Sailboat races will be held every Saturday at 3 p.m. on Fourth Lake until Saturday, August 17. All sailboats are welcome, especially sunfish.
